About

Caroline Hobson

A very warm welcome to my page and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor working in East Grinstead. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and psychotherapy (MBACP) and therefore adhere to their code of ethics. Please view the ethical framework here - (www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework)

I am a warm, empathic, and understanding person who is hugely passionate about mental health, personal growth, awareness, and development. My philosophy as a qualified person-centred counsellor, respects and values each individual as their own person with their own unique experiences. I endeavor to provide a calm, safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for you to freely explore whatever may be troubling you. My work is grounded in the belief that being alongside you in your pain, internal conflict and mental distress enables you to express your deepest feelings and emotions and feel heard and valued. I typically work in an experiential way, naturally guided to draw attention to and focus on particular aspects of your experiencing, enabling you to unfold and openly express yourself. I hold dear the person-centred belief that you are the expert on yourself and thus have the capacity to find your own way forward with counselling support. I strive to work collaboratively in building a trusting and connecting relationship to promote therapeutic change and healing thus helping you to move towards a more fulfilled life.

I may introduce creativity into the sessions to enhance your process, deepen self-exploration, self-understanding, and encourage self-expression. This may include the use of emotion cards, creative writing, drawing, painting, collaging etc. I continue to work in a person-centred way to help you find your own personal meaning behind your creation which is free from judgment, diagnosis and interpretation. Working therapeutically in a creative way will always be mutually discussed beforehand. Your choice/preference will be totally heard and respected so please do let me know if this way of working doesn't feel right for you.

It can feel overwhelming when searching for a suitable counsellor; it is really important to find the right counsellor and approach for you. With this in mind, I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone assessment so that you can get a feel of my way of working before committing to continuing therapy with me.

Supervision and confidentiality

As a member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I am required to monitor my own practice by attending regular supervision. I am committed to my own self-development. There are times when aspects of our sessions will be taken to supervision to monitor my practice; at no time will your name or any identifiable information be mentioned. My supervisor is also committed to our contracted confidentiality.

In the unlikely event that we shall cross paths outside of therapy, I confirm that I shall adhere to my professional boundaries to protect and respect your confidentiality by not acknowledging you unless you acknowledge me first then of course communication will be reciprocated.

I hold appropriate professional liability insurance and I am also a registered member of the ICO (Information Commisioners Office)
